20 amazing photos of Korea for your travel inspiration

Despite being burdened by its complicated history, today’s Korea is a lively country with energetic cities, beautiful palaces and admirable café scene. Here my 20 amazing photos of Korea for your travel inspiration.

Visiting Korea was on my list for a long time. Not just because it is an interesting country, but also because it was simply easy to travel there from Japan. However, also due to the proximity, it just always got a lower preference compared to my other targets. Finally, we decided to go and enjoy full two weeks traveling the country from North to South. Sit down and enjoy my 20 amazing photos of Korea for your travel inspiration.

Traveling Korea in November cold

We came to Korea in early November and we were welcomed by cold autumn weather. And it was only getting worse throughout our stay. Upon our arrival, the temperatures were moving around 16°C. However, the day we were leaving from Busan after two weeks, we were facing -7°C during the night and -1°C during the day. As our next stops were much warmer Hong Kong, Macau, and the Philippines, we were only lightly packed and the cold weather was literally killing us every day. Still, we managed to enjoy pretty packed two weeks of adventures in Korea.

Our highlights of Korea

We started off in Seoul, exploring the famous districts of the city. We also visited two amazing themed cafes – the Line Friends Café & Store and a Raccoon Cafe called Blind Alley and had a lot of great food and cute snacks. On the sunniest day, we rented and then rocked the traditional Hanboks in the historic part of Seoul. However, the most intense part of our stay was for sure the visit to the Joint Security Area in the Demilitarized Zone.

After Seoul, we jumped on the KTX (Korean version of Japanese high-speed train Shinkansen) and moved South to Gyeongju. Gyeongju was the capital of the ancient Silla Kingdom (dating back to 9th century) and with it numerous ruins, tombs and temples, it is known as the museum
without walls. After two nights in the city, we joined the life of monks in the mountains and experienced intense templestay in the Golgulsa temple.

The last stop of our journey was Korea’s beach capital – Busan. Trembling in the cold temperatures falling close to 0°C, we still strolled around the beaches and through the photoshoot paradise known as the Gamcheon Cultural Village. If anywhere, this is the place where you can get the most amazing photos of Korea.

My 20 amazing photos of Korea

Korea might not have the opulence of China or the delicacy of Japan, but it still a country which has a lot to offer. From great food to beautiful temples and playfulness of its fashion, restaurants or architecture. All with the shadow of the burden of its unfortunate history, which still affects the life of common Koreans until today and which adds another dimension to your overall impression of the country. So now, come and enjoy my 20 amazing photos of Korea for your travel inspiration.
